About LIMA
Values & Ethics
Our commitments to clients, learners and the industry.
Our Values
What we stand for
Excellence
We hold ourselves to the highest standards in everything we do, from the design of a single course to the delivery of a national programme. Good enough is never enough when lives, vessels and livelihoods are at stake.
Integrity
We are honest, transparent and ethical in every dealing. We say what we will do, we do what we say, and we never compromise on safety or standards to win or keep business.
Innovation
We continuously look for better ways to learn and to serve, embracing new technologies, new fuels and new methods while staying grounded in operational reality.
Impact
We measure our success by the success of our clients: safer operations, stronger performance, better-prepared people and more capable institutions.
Collaboration
We work across disciplines, cultures and languages, bringing the bridge, the boardroom, the engine room and the courtroom together to find complete solutions.
Our Ethics
Our commitments to clients, learners and the industry
As an organisation built by professionals who have worked within the industry's safety and regulatory systems, we understand that trust is earned. These commitments guide how we operate.
Safety first, always
No commercial, schedule or cost pressure will ever take priority over the safety of people, vessels or the marine environment, in our teaching, our advice or our own operations.
Honest learning and fair assessment
Our certificates reflect genuine learning and demonstrated competence. We assess fairly and consistently, and we do not issue certification that has not been earned.
Independence and objectivity
Our advice is impartial and based on evidence and experience. We identify and manage any conflict of interest openly, and our experts will always tell clients what they need to hear, not only what they want to hear.
Confidentiality and data protection
We protect the confidential information entrusted to us by clients and participants, and we handle personal data responsibly and in line with applicable data protection laws.
Zero tolerance for bribery and corruption
We do not offer, give, request or accept bribes, improper payments or inappropriate gifts, and we comply with all applicable anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws in every country where we work.
Respect, fairness and inclusion
We treat every learner, client, colleague and partner with dignity and respect. We are committed to equal opportunity regardless of background, nationality, gender or language, and our bilingual delivery exists to widen access to learning.
Responsibility to the environment
We promote responsible practices that protect the oceans and support the industry's transition to cleaner fuels and lower emissions.
Accountability and continuous improvement
We welcome feedback and concerns, review them seriously, and use them to improve. Anyone who wishes to raise a concern about our conduct can contact us in confidence at info@lima-uk.org.
