Liverpool International Maritime Academy Launches on World Maritime Day to Power the Gulf's Maritime Ambitions
LIMA officially launched on World Maritime Day 2026 with a mission to close the gap between the rules the maritime industry adopts and the people who must make them work.

The Liverpool International Maritime Academy (LIMA) officially launched on World Maritime Day, 24 September 2026, with a mission to close the gap between the rules the maritime industry adopts and the people who must make them work, at sea and ashore.
Led by President Tony Field, a Master Mariner and former Lloyd's Register Vice President for the Middle East and Africa, LIMA brings together Master Mariners, former classification society leaders, port executives, maritime lawyers and technologists to deliver practitioner-led training and advisory services in both Arabic and English.
The launch coincided with the IMO's 2026-2027 World Maritime Day theme, "From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence."

LIMA Expert Insight
LIMA's programmes are designed around the region's priorities, from port operations and logistics to maritime security, digital transformation, QHSE and leadership development for national cadres.
