Course Overview

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the operational and logistical challenges of managing a modern port or marine terminal. It is designed to equip managers with the skills to optimize cargo handling, vessel movements, and landside logistics. The program covers key areas such as berth allocation, yard management, and intermodal connectivity. Participants will learn how to improve operational efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and ensure a seamless flow of goods through the terminal. The course examines the requirements of ISPS Code, SOLAS Chapter XI-2, SOLAS Chapter VI, IMDG Code, CSC Convention and IMO FAL Convention as they apply to port & terminal operations management. Participants will develop practical skills to understand the end-to-end operational flow of a port terminal, apply best practices for managing vessel operations, including mooring, loading, and unloading, optimize cargo yard and warehouse management for maximum throughput and enhance the efficiency of intermodal transport connections (e.g., rail, road).
